You know what they say, "You are what you eat."
As a doctor, I can attest to that statement.
Growing up with hippy parents in Baltimore, access to the freshest and organic produce. Whole food was plenty; we lived at the health food stores…. Come on, Green Earth Health Food Store (IYKYK)!!
This made it much easier to make healthy food choices later in life.
I can't stress the importance of being mindful of where our food comes from, especially with meat. Trust me, cattle these days feed is made with different things, including antibiotics and hormones, to help grow faster and plump up for mass production.
These ingest not only into their bodies but also into our cells, which can lead to hormonal shifts.
Such is why aging well requires a holistic wellness plan considering a balanced diet, incorporating herbs, minerals, and grains; combined with managing stress, daily movement; and, of course… topical skincare.
So, let's try to fuel your bodies with the good stuff and age like the fine wines you are.
If you're like me, you want to ensure you do everything possible to achieve this.
But did you know your aging plan involves more than just your diet? Yep, you heard that right.
Your external environment around you plays a significant role in the equation.
When creating optimal aging plans for you, consider what you put in your body and the external environment around you!
Recently I chatted with a holistic doctor who shared some insightful information.
I was shocked to learn despite being a successful vitamin-selling practitioner who does regular bloodwork, he still has high levels of pesticides in his bloodstream. Yikes!
Despite being a beacon of health, with an amazing practice, and manufacturing vitamins, these pesky metals still show in his blood!
I often see folk on social media claiming no links between diet and skin health, but I beg to differ.
We are ALL individuals.
We don't know by looking at someone's skin what's taken place internally; there might be things in your bloodwork jacking your levels up and off the charts.
Listen up, folks, if you want to be the healthiest you can be, it's time to level up your food game.
Essentially, eating a balanced diet will help your skin glow and help your gut system clear out and heal and improve your energy levels and any bad bacteria (from meat and antibiotics).
So, if you want to glow from the inside out, just remember a balanced diet does wonders for your gut and energy levels, which cannot harm your skin.
